We didn’t start Floodline Restoration Co. as some grand business plan. The East Bronx branch opened because Curt Bowman kept seeing the same thing happen to good people, over and over. A pipe lets go in a Pelham Bay co-op at 2 a.m. The homeowner calls the first number they find. Somebody shows up hours later, sets a couple of fans, hands over a bill, and leaves. Two weeks later the baseboards are swelling and the smell is coming through the walls.
Then the homeowner calls us. And by then, the job is twice as expensive and three times harder than it needed to be. Curt had watched this play out from the inside of the restoration trade for years, and he kept thinking: this doesn’t have to be the way it goes. A water loss is chaotic enough without the company you hired making it worse.
So when the opportunity came to bring Floodline’s way of working to the East Bronx, Curt didn’t hesitate. The brand already had the systems: a live person on dispatch, a moisture map on day one, daily readings until the dry standard is hit, and the same company that dries the house rebuilding it. What the Bronx needed was a local team that would actually deliver it here, in this city, on these streets. That’s the branch Curt built.

Curt Bowman’s Personal Connection to the Damage Restoration Trade
Curt got into this work the way a lot of people get into it: by standing in somebody’s basement and realizing most of the industry was doing it wrong.
Early on, he worked alongside a tradesman who taught him the thing that still guides him: you don’t rush water. You can’t muscle it out. You have to measure it, map it, move it methodically, and prove it’s gone before anybody puts drywall back up. The tradesman who trained him would walk a room and point at things nobody else noticed, the faint ghost line behind a water heater, the way a floor pitch changed by half an inch. That’s the work Curt fell in love with. Not the demolition. The seeing.
He remembers the first apartment he ever walked into after a loss. The family was standing in the living room, everything they owned pulled into the center of the floor, and the smell of wet drywall was so thick it sat in your throat. What stayed with him wasn’t the damage. It was the look on the homeowner’s face, somebody trying to hold it together while a stranger walked around their home with a clipboard. Curt decided that day that if he ever ran a job, the person standing in that living room would get something nobody in this trade seemed to offer: a straight answer, a square deal, and proof of the work, not just a final invoice.

Curt Bowman is the Owner & Founder of the East Bronx branch of Floodline Restoration Co. He has spent more than a decade in damage restoration, working in basements, crawlspaces, attics and gutted kitchens across New York City. He has run jobs on this side of the Bronx long enough to know which blocks flood when the storm drains back up on Shore Road, and which aging co-op buildings in Throggs Neck have plumbing waiting to fail.
When you call Floodline in the East Bronx, a live coordinator answers and connects you with the local team Curt leads. He’s not a salesman behind a desk. He’s the person who walks the property, reads the moisture meter, and writes the scope.
Outside the job, Curt is a tinkerer. He restores old wood furniture in a workshop that smells like sawdust and linseed oil, because he likes seeing something damaged come back to what it was supposed to be. It’s the same instinct, he says. Just smaller rooms.
